ambulances, airports, hospitals, and christmas fun

Two weeks ago I finished three consecutive days of work with an adventure. A very sick patient required emergent transport from our hospital to Tacoma. He required frequent monitoring and management of his vitals, so the only safe thing to do was to send an RN with him, and I volunteered :)

Lights and sirens we sped down I-5 and 30 min later safely handed him over to their capable hands.

The next day I packed Bagheera up and we went to the airport.

He was not happy, but we made it through the journey and were so grateful to have Laura and Diane as our late night transport from airport to home.

Aaghhh, what a wonderful visit and time to be home.
I love my family, I love the winter, and I love the holidays.

The North East snow storm last week caused a flight cancellation that grounded me two more days. But what did I care? Of course I'd rather relax with family than work..

But alas the skies cleared and I managed to get a flight out of PA Friday afternoon.  That plane was delayed, which required me to sprint  through the Houston airport, after I got a voicemail saying if I missed the connecting flight I would have to wait two more days to leave Texas.

Well I made it onto the plane and practically wept as I beheld the moon rise above the Western part of our country.  Do you see it there? Bright as a light shinning on the glittering town below?

I worked this weekend and have started saying my goodbyes to staff that I won't be seeing for my final two shifts.  Believe it or not, my heart feels a little sad.  Sure, I had a rough start in Washington, but that changed, and I have thoroughly enjoyed working at Good Sam.

Does it surprise you, oh people that know me so well, to hear that I pine for another assignment?  Two months of leisure and skiing sounds like the perfect adventure, but oh to travel somewhere new after that, and begin again for another 13 week stint...

No, I must remember what previously ailed my heart and made me want to settle.
It's time, at least I think it is, to remain in one place for a while.

Oh, let's just see what God has planned for this little pig and black cat for 2013.

Happy New Year, and may 2013 be full of adventure and joy for you!!
