this n'at

California is full of travelers from Pittsburgh.  Wednesday, Ashley and I spent the day with two of them.

This is Julie and Dana.

They came to LA about a month ago, and work at Kaiser in West LA. They are also ICU nurses. And like the Steelers.

We went to El Matador and enjoyed the sunshine.

We spent the whole day there.  Then we got dinner at a local restaurant, got all glamorous, then went to a bar in Echo Park.

Friday and Saturday we worked.

I was smiling because Saturday marked two weeks to my last day in LA.

This is Annie ^
Ashley and I love working with her because she always jokes and laughs with us.  We are going to miss her a lot.

Today I played hooky.. don't tell on me.

Almost every Sunday for the past few months I have had to work. So today I enjoyed Sunday things - I got to go to the gym, church, which I haven't done for a while, and I went to a superbowl party that one of my co-workers hosted.

It reminded me so much of our football parties at home: tons of food, people, and shouting.

..and giant inflatable jars of beer.

In exactly two weeks I will be driving away from LA..

My plan is to drive up the coast Sunday, drop my carload of stuff in a storage unit in Pacifica, CA, where we will most likely be living, then I'll drive to Reno Monday to pick up my mom, dad, and cousin Matt from the airport for a week of skiing in Tahoe.

As far as a job goes, no, I'm not sure where we will be working, but the life of a travelers is such that you often find out at the last minute. Our resumes have been submitted for a few jobs, so we will just wait for now.  But I don't feel stress or pressure.. yet..

My cousin Matt lives in WA, about 8hr from San Francisco. He offered to let me stay with him until my next job starts.  My recruiter said that latest we could expect starting our next job is March 19th, but she's hoping for something March 5th.

We shall see :)
