Homewood

We were the first to arrive at the mountain today. Primo parking spot. A friendly ski instructor gave us the dish on the best slopes and snow for the day. Almost a play-by-play for the morning and afternoon.

Today we skied at Homewood.  Small as far as Tahoe resorts go, but it's known for it's amazing view.  With the bright sun shining and blue sky all day, it was beautiful.

Conditions weren't ideal and it was very warm today. But we made the most of it by searching for the best snow on the mountain.

And these two know how to find it. It's like skiing with private guides. I just follow them and try to keep up.

Today my job as a travel nurse collided with my vacation.  As some of you know, I don't technically have another assignment.  Meaning, I don't have a job. However, before I left, we (myself, Ashley, and our recruiter) had been discussing a few opportunities.  The way it works is; our recruiter hears about a job, talks to us about it, we say 'yay or nay', then we get a phone call from the Unit Director of the potential job.  We have an interview, if they like us they tell our company, who then creates a contract, we sign, and then we start working.  Because these jobs are competitive (especially for city hospitals), it's best to respond ASAP if you hear about something you like.

Well, we heard about something we liked.  In order to try to secure the opportunity I had my phone on me all day. I took calls on the chair lift, I answered emails on double black diamonds.

I was stressin'. Hopefully lying to interviewers and people by saying, "no this isn't a bad time", will pay off with a 20 week assignment.. We'll see..

That ski resort in the distance is Heavenly. We'll be there Friday.

I kept thinking, "if I had a steady job, I wouldn't have to interrupt my vacay with this stuff."

But then again, I wouldn't be skiing Tahoe if I wasn't out here traveling..

Even though today was stressful, both physically and mentally, I loved it. It's great to be with my parents for a whole week.  It's great to be skiing, even if I got a side stitch so bad this afternoon that I thought briefly that my lung had collapsed..

Our apres skiing isn't quite as exciting as some may experience.  Especially when you fall asleep at about 8pm during a movie..
