Today we ventured to Hollywood. We started off at Griffith Observatory , which is supposed to provide one of the best views of the famous hollywood sign.
the observatory.
We went shopping and did some of the cliche sight-seeing. We saw a lot of the names on the walk of fame, and Grauman's Chinese Theater, where celebrities have set their hand prints and feet in cement.
This is the only picture I took, for some reason. Of the Roosevelt Hotel, which is very cool looking..and famous too, I guess :)
After walking and looking around, we drove through Beverly Hills toward LA (coincidentally on CA-2, which is also Old Route 66), in hunt of the Container Store. We left there and headed home around 430p. Bad idea.. traaaffiiicc..
The traffic was bad and aggressive. One of those situations where people will lay on the horn as soon as the light turns green, and continue to blast it for the duration of the green light. We knew we couldn't tolerate this traffic for long, so Ashley followed a map lead us on back roads, around the traffic. My thought was, I'd rather drive for a long time and see things, rather than sit for a long time in that traffic. The back road turned out to be this windy serpentine road through lavish neighborhoods scattered on the mountains in West Hollywood - very pretty.
We finally made it home and stopped at Pierce College again so Ashley could get a pumpkin to carve.
Mission successful. Hollywood, let's try again sometime, but not during rush hour.
I'm not sure why, but I was never that impressed with Hollywood. It was fun to check out and then....I was done. : )
